The Dragons and the Princess

Tuck me in,
Make sure that I feel safe,
My infant mind,
A blank canvas,
Paint me a picture,
Paint me a picture,
Please paint me another masterpiece,

You take myself, my brother and my sister on journeys,
Take us down paths that we would never find ourselves,
To a world of colour and fascination,
To a world we called our own,

But the colours began to fade,
A world saturated in beauty,
Turns grey,
The pathways became so overgrown,
That even you could not find the gate,

Now the gate is locked.

My head's now filled with masterpieces thanks to you,
But my collection can no longer grow,
But I'm hopeful.

The inspiration that i have gained from your work,
Will one day,
Help me to paint a masterpiece of my own.

Contemporary Art

All that they wanted was for their child to come home,
And they did,
In body bags or without minds or without hope,

We painted their country in red, white and blue,
They didn't ask for our help but still we pursued,
Like a child that never learns,
If you play with fire you will only get burnt.

We painted their country in red, white and blue,
They didn't ask for our help but still we pursued,
Now our blood paints their walls and our bodies fill their graves,
If we hadn't given you the power would it all be the same?
